PROJECT DETAILS

In the heart of urban landscapes, safety, and aesthetic appeal are paramount considerations for architectural projects. 25 Golden Square stands as a testament to the fusion of both, showcasing how innovative glazing solutions can simultaneously elevate the ambiance and security of a space.

At Golden Square, Glasstec Systems was tasked with designing, supplying, and fitting bespoke A2 Fire-compliant Glass balustrades and Juliet Balconies to enhance the safety and visual allure of the 5th and 6th-floor balconies.

The objective was to deliver compliant glazed balustrades that not only met stringent safety and fire standards but also exuded elegance.

This choice of glass ensured compliance with BS EN13501 class A2-s1,d0 and achieved 0.74 kN/m line loads while providing residents with unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape. Structural aluminium U-Channels, sealed with gaskets, formed the foundation of the balustrades, guaranteeing robust support and longevity.

Furthermore, the design included continuous welded square handrails, that were painted to match the exterior. Thought and consideration was required for the weatherproofing details as well as integration into the Dorma roof. A small gate was also a requirement for access for maintenance.

One significant challenge encountered by our team was the limited space within the working area, rendering the installation and movement of the glass significantly more difficult. Despite this obstacle, the team devised a strategic plan to address this issue and successfully surmounted the problem.

25 Golden Square stands as a shining example of how innovative glazing solutions can seamlessly integrate safety, functionality, and style. By prioritizing fire safety without compromising on design aesthetics, the project sets a new standard for architectural excellence in urban environments. As cities continue to evolve, such forward-thinking approaches will undoubtedly shape the skyline while prioritising the well-being of everyone who enters.
