Glasstec Systems was commissioned by London-based builders BTL Property Design & Build to design and install frameless glazed balustrading for a private residential client.
Project objectives
The patio doors on the ground floor of the client’s London SW4 property led to a rear garden, which in turn led down steps to the cellar that had been converted into a living space.
BTL Property Design & Build refurbished the entire property to create a modern, design-led residence with stylish contemporary features. The outdated, posted balustrade that ran from the patio door to the stairs down to the cellar, was to be replaced by on-trend glass balustrading, in keeping with the high specification of the rest of the property.
Glasstec Systems’ design solution
To meet the brief for a contemporary finish, we designed a bespoke, frameless glazed balustrade with chic, clean lines to create the aspirational modern finish of similar properties in the SW4 area.
Outside spaces in residential properties are valued more now than ever before, so we wanted to create a seamless extension of the refurbished interior.
While the provision of protective, safe, and robust balustrading was of course essential, aesthetics was a key driver behind our structural glazing designs and planning.
Central to our design scheme was the high-end, bespoke black fittings and fixtures. The powder-coated black finish of the handrail and base channel created a stunning effect that enhanced the outside space at the rear of the property. Against the backdrop of the contemporary whitewashed walls and marble effect paving, the black fittings and fixtures provided the ultra-modern finish.

Bespoke glass balustrades from Glasstec Systems

We install customised frameless glass balustrades in both residential and commercial properties, with or without handrails. A frameless glass balustrade has no posts, providing an unobstructed view when installed outside a property. For interiors, a frameless glass balustrade allows light to pour into dark, less exposed spaces.
If required, the glass can be tinted or designed with other bespoke requirements. We are continuously innovating to create cutting-edge designs that are elegant and eye-catching, but also of the highest safety standards.
